Basic Chassis

The basis for the Torero is a semi-spaceframe structure constructed from 16 gauge mild steel square tube of varying dimensions. It is MIG welded by professional welders on high precision jigs, thus ensuring quality and accuracy. It features a central backbone which gives excellent strength and rigidity with the floor and bulkheads welded in to complete the structure. The suspension, seatbelt, seat and door hinge mounts are all welded in place, as to comply with the Single Vehicle Approval (S.V.A). All the suspension wishbone arms are made from 20/25 mm CDS tube and are TIG welded thus giving incredible strength . The wishbones are metallastic bushed inboard and outboard on the rear and inboard only on the front which gives a production like feel to the ride and handling of the finished car. The rear uprights are specifically made for the Torero using cast aluminium and take standard Ford Granada Mk3 bearings with drive flanges and hubs. The whole assembly is bolted together using zinc plated nuts and bolts to ensure the continuing standards of the product.

Rolling Chassis

The 'rolling chassis' is as the 'basic chassis' shown at the top of the page but supplied with front uprights, vented discs and brake calipers, top and bottom ball joints and steering rack with track rod ends and steering column. Also fitted are rear bearings, with drive flanges and hubs, discs and calipers (Stage 2 vented rear disc is an option). Brake pipes are fitted, as is a fully-working handbrake assembly. Note that the pictures above show some items that are not supplied in the rolling chassis kit such as water pipes, air-con unit, petrol tank, rear radiators and wheels.

We can also supply a Stage 3 full brake upgrade kit which consists of Brembo vented drilled discs all round with Brembo calipers used on the front. Currently we are using the same sliding caliper on the rear

The basic chassis or rolling chassis can be supplied in painted Hammerite or powder coated. By far the majority of our customers choose the powder coat option as it's chassis protection far outweighs that of the Hammerite and is relatively inexpensive considering the benefits given from it.
